Downline Ceremony of the First Shield Machine of Taiyuan North Heavy Industry

With the completion of the test run acceptance, the 96-meter-long behemoth-"Jinyang No.1" shield machine was successfully offline on December 20, filling the gap in the independent assembly of shield machines by domestic private enterprises. This "steel dragon" independently assembled by our company will be used for the tunneling operation from the mining machine station of Metro Line 2 to Xijianhe Station.
For a long time, due to the complexity of the process, the production and assembly of shield machines are often completed by large state-owned enterprises. For example, shield machines such as "Longcheng No.1" and "Fenjin No.1" are currently being used for subway tunneling in our city. The shield machine is independently assembled by a private enterprise, and Taiyuan North Heavy Industry Machinery Co., Ltd. is the first in China.
After years of development, the complete sets of metallurgical equipment produced by our company are widely used in Anshan Iron and Steel, Jinan Iron and Steel, Xining Special Steel and other national key enterprises, and produced the largest 110-ton single-arm rotary crane in Asia for the Jianshan Mine of Taigang. Many series of products are also exported to foreign countries, showing the level of "made in Shanxi" to "made in Shanxi.
In May of this year, the world's top 500 company, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, threw an olive branch for cooperation. The shield machine customized for our city's Metro Line 2 was intended to be assembled by Northern Heavy Industries. "Before the cooperation, China Shipbuilding Heavy Industry inspected our production and assembly capabilities seven times." This shield machine consists of a head and a matching set of two parts, including a cutter head, a shield body, a connecting bridge and seven trolley cars. "The normal assembly cycle of a shield machine is generally 8 to 10 months, and it only took us 6 months from assembly to successful test run."
In the process of assembling the shield machine, the technicians of the project team faced the difficulties and solved the problems one by one-because the shield machine had never been assembled, the hardware strength was not enough. When formulating the hoisting scheme, the enterprise decisively abandoned the commonly used line crane and switched to the hoisting scheme of truck crane and auxiliary hoisting tool. When assembling cutterhead and other components, the whole process adopts vertical installation, which solves the hardware problem required for ordinary horizontal installation. The incision ring, support ring and shield shell of the shield machine are all huge cylinders, which require extremely high welding precision and adopt the mode of integral welding processing, the diameter, ovality and coaxiality of the cylinder are guaranteed. In addition, after the research of our company's technicians, it was decided to abandon the common assembly method of building the skeleton first and then assembling the parts one by one, and to adopt the method of dividing the modules first and then assembling the parts, thus greatly reducing the assembly time.
During the commissioning phase, the temperature in our city dropped sharply, and the original grouting system suitable for non-icing conditions appeared to be inflexible and unstable. The company immediately worked with experts to tackle key problems, adjust the grouting formula, and repeated experiments to ensure the success of the test run and the safety of the tunneling operation. After continuous fighting, the earth pressure balance shield machine with a diameter of 6.44 meters was successfully tested and accepted on December 20, 2017.
